2016-17 DSB Travel Rec Season

If you haven’t found the right travel team yet or you just want to play in a league on a team that goes to a few tournaments, this is the right place for you. 

What is Travel Rec?

DSB Travel Rec combines the best of both worlds to offer a unique program to 13- and 14-year olds at Dunwoody Park.   DSB Travel Rec teams:

·         Form in August and play through the end of June.

·         Participate in the Fall and Spring DSB Rec leagues.

·         Play in two or three tournaments per season (Fall & Spring) throughout North Georgia

·         Receive regular instruction from a professional coach

·         Scrimmage with the local travel teams

A player’s age for this is as of April 30, 2017. 

Travel Rec Calendar

·         August:  Teams form

·         September thru mid-November:

o   DSB Fall Lower League games

o   Local travel team scrimmages

o   Travel tournaments

o   Professional instruction

·         Mid-November thru mid-February: Off

·         Mid-February thru mid-April:

o   Players either play for their DSB Middle School League team or

o   Join one of the DSB park teams for the Middle School League (separate fees)

·         Mid-April thru June:

o   DSB Spring Lower League games

o   Local travel team scrimmages

o   Travel tournaments

o   Professional instruction

Time Commitment 

Travel Rec requires a time commitment similar to travel ball but more of it is spend locally.

o   During the week there were will activity on two nights, before consideration of any rain-out make up games: 

o   One Rec League game (Fall or Spring)

o   One instructional session or scrimmage with a local travel team

o   Weekends

o   One DSB Rec League game on Saturday or Sunday, or

o   A travel tournament on Friday, Saturday and/or Sunday

Fees

Fees for the 2016-2017 Travel Rec season are $1,200 for the year and cover the following items:

o   Uniforms, except shoes.  No personal equipment (gloves, bats, etc.)

o   DSB Fall & Spring Rec League Fees

o   Travel tournament Fees (travel expenses not included)

o   Up to three Instructional sessions each season (Fall & Spring) with a professional coach

o   Local travel team Scrimmage Fees

o   Baseballs and helmets

Not covered includes:

o   Personal equipment: Shoes, gloves, bats, catcher’s gear, sunglasses, batting gloves, foul-ball guards and    similar items used by a player.

o   DSB Middle School League:  Separate fees apply.

If you are already a member of DSB, log in to register your player.  If not, parents must register on line before registering players.  Either way, follow the links in the Register menu for 2016-17 Travel Rec.  Please provide as much relevant information as possible in the “Notes” section of the registration form so we know your player’s situation (for example -- indicate any previous playing experience, involvement in travel ball, a desire to play high school ball, etc.)

On-line or Mail-In registration. Checks or online credit card payments must be in our possession by Aug 21 to complete the registration process.

Sunday, August 21, 1:00 pm
Mandatory player evaluations on the lower field at Dunwoody Park. In the event of rain that day, check this web site for further information. Walk in registrations accepted on a space available basis.

Thursday, August 25, 7:00 pm 
Lower League Coaches Meeting at DSB Field House.

Sunday, August 28 – Thursday, September 8
Practices.

Saturday, September 10 – End of Mid-November
